Cape Flattery Seawall Construction

PMG have recently completed reconstruction of a damaged seawall at Cape Flattery for Cape Flattery Silica Mines. The aim of the exercise was to rebuild a damaged seawall to protect the export jetty abutment against erosion and wave action.

All plant and materials for the project were loaded onto barges at PMG’s Townsville marine facility, and towed to Cape Flattery via tugboat. Barges were unloaded at Cape Flattery’s barge ramp, and materials stockpiled, for eventual transport across the minesite to the base of the export jetty where the seawall project was located. The work involved 8000T of bedding, intermediate and armour rock.

Our civil subcontractors Wilco Logistics did a fantastic job on site, with a high quality wall rebuilt exactly to specs, and to a high quality finish.

Safety was paramount on this very exposed site, and we are proud to report zero incidents for the job. A big thank you to all involved in those successful project, especially all our team members, subcontractors, and client Cape Flattery Silica Mines.
