Scope of Work
Project Brief:
The Hammond Island Marine Facility was approaching the end of its service life and is a critical access point for vessels and the ferry service on Hammond Island. To improve accessibility for disabled people, elderly residents, school children and commuters, the council proposed to install a new facility that would ensure compliance with the Federal Disability Standards and improve the berthing conditions for users.
The ferry service is the only community access to the main service hub of Thursday Island (schools, hospitals, health social services) and surrounding islands, aside from helicopter and private vessels launched from the shore.
- Maintain island access at the nearby barge ramp and jetty at all times
- Dredging and dredged material disposal
- Breakwater supply and installation - 120m length and up to 8m high
- Design, supply and installation of 7 x 15m pontoon, 22m gangway, piling and abutment suitable for a 20m and 10m ferry.
- Supply and install new solar lighting for the facility.
