Ossa Salvage

Scope of Work

• Visit vessel and Prepare safe towage plan in conjunction with Towage Surveyor (Qld Ship Surveyors).
• PMG tug mobilised to Ossa location (Whitsundays) and crew perform necessary onboard repairs and preparations for safe towage.
• Preparations completed and QSS issued Towage Certificate for 1 way towage.
• Tug tows Ossa Whitsundays – Townsville, and docks at PMG wharf.
• PMG remove approximately 50T of weight from the Ossa while alongside PMG wharf. This included the main engine and wheelhouse. This was to get the weight down to below 180T so the local travel lift could lift the vessel from the water.
• Once this weight was removed, vessel was removed from water and placed on a pre-laid gravel bed to protect the shipyard concrete and contain debris. Vessel was then cut up using excavator mounted shears, and the steel recycled.
