PMG have completed the Townsville Port Berths 6 and 7 demolition project at June 2016.
All concrete deck and piles and superstructure were removed by November 2015, and we have been dredging since then with a combination of clam shell dredge bucket on our crane barge “Sheerlegs” and a 150T long arm excavator mounted on our 180ft spudded barge “PMG181”. We have set up 3 x flat top barges with hungry boards for carting the dredge spoil, which has been unloaded at our barge ramp and transported in semi-tippers across the road to POTL reclaim area. The final dredge survey has been completed by Port of Townsville (POTL) and given the all clear.
This project has been very successful for both PMG and POTL, and has showcased PMG’s innovative, professional and equipment intensive approach to marine contracting. The project has utilised every department within PMG including Engineering Design, Project Management, Admin, Marine, Fabrication, Construction, Painters, Divers and Fitters. A big thanks and job well done from PMG to all our employees and subcontractors involved in this very successful project.
